In addition to hand throwing pots we slipcast many tankards and steins using liquid clay poured into plaster molds. The technique is widespread in commercial dinnerware and dates to the 18th Century in Germany. It results in greater size accuracy and glazes look brighter and glossier since the clay is very white and smooth. Many of our renaissance festival and more intricately shaped custom mugs are formed by slipcasting also.
