Chloe Tirebuck, a former Grey Fox Pottery Staff Member and current Activities Director at Providence Place in Minneapolis, organized a Paint Your Own Event with ornaments and paints gladly donated by Grey Fox Pottery Gifts to brighten some Senior Community residents lives during the past Holiday Season.
Chloe had three different groups of 5-6 men and women busily painting away after she explained the process and turned on the Christmas music to get everyone in the holiday spirit.
They absolutely loved it. They still talk about it today, how much fun it was to do!
One woman carriers her ornament around with her everywhere Apparently she named it “Dolly,” and it as become as dear to her as a best friend. The residents were very creative with their ornaments. Another woman made her gingerbread a woman – giving it green clip-on earrings, another painted a stocking and gave it a big smiley face because she said it made her happy.
After we glazed fired them and Chloe picked them up the residents proudly hung them in their rooms, showing them off to visitors and talking about what they learned about ceramics.
Art can make such a big impact on both young and old. Thanks, Chloe, for your important work and letting us share in these special peoples’ happiness! We love opportunities to give back to the people in our community. We are hoping to bring more on-location Paint Your Own parties as arranged by our employees at their favorite non-profit and in-need organizations in the Twin Cities.
